CASE STUDIES

Kingspan’s range of water tanks are installed Australia wide for various applications and specific requirements. Below are some case studies of projects we have completed.

Our talented Commercial & Industrial Tank Team brings over 100 years of combined tank experience, helping clients, architects, consultants, and specifiers navigate tricky installs and restricted spaces.

Project Location: Level 2 of a Commercial Building

Commercial Building Square Steel Panel Water Tank

Application: Fire Water Storage and Stormwater Collection

Tank Specification: Length: 7.65m x Width: 3.0m x Height: 3.8m

Combined Capacity: 60KL for Fire Water Storage & 12KL for Stormwater Collection

Highlights of The Project:

  • Custom-designed to maximise storage and minimise footprint
  • Engineered to meet deflection criteria with no internal braces
  • Installed on Level 2 – taking into account part handling, restricted access, safety and manoeuvrability

The KSS Rectangular/Square Tank Range is highly versatile – available in standard shapes or custom L- or T-shapes – perfect for rooftops, basements, and tight access sites. Suitable for Fire, Potable, and Stormwater applications. Available in:

  • Galvanised
  • Galvanised + Powder Coated
  • Stainless Steel (Grade 304 or 316)

Project Location: Country VIC

Application: Fire Water Storage

Tank Specification: Diameter: 12.623m x Height: 5.0m

Capacity: 550kL Effective

Highlights of The Project:

  • Large Capacity: Each tank stands 5m high and spans 12.623m in diameter, ensuring ample water supply for fire emergencies.
  • Built for Tough Conditions: Designed to withstand harsh Australian climates, these corrugated steel tanks offer long-lasting durability.
  • Fire Protection Ready: Compliant with fire safety requirements, these tanks provide a dependable water source when it’s needed most.

When it comes to fire protection, reliable water storage is critical. We recently installed two RCT-275-50 corrugated water tanks in Country Victoria, providing a total capacity of 625kL, with an effective storage of 550kL.

Whether for fire protection, commercial projects, or industrial applications, Kingspan’s corrugated water tanks are engineered for performance and reliability.

Project Location: Hamersley Range WA

Application: AS4020:2018 Potable Water With Fire Reserve

Tank 1 Specification: Diameter: 17.545m x Height: 6.9m, 1.67M Litres Gross Capacity

Tank 2 Specification: Diameter: 17.214m x Height: 6.9m, 1.60M Litres Gross Capacity

Highlights of The Project:

  • Primary Design Code: AS2304:2018
  • Construction Method: Hydraulic Jacks
  • Materials: Hot Dipped Galvanised Steel wall panels with Polyester Coastal Grade Powder Coating in Shale Grey
  • Enhanced Roof System: Engineered roof purlins with downturn lip for moisture management – No Roof posts, freestanding
  • Foundation: Compacted ring beam foundation

As part of the project scope, existing corrugated tanks were safely dismantled, and replaced with engineered ‘’matching diameter, custom made’’ KSR Kingspan Industrial Tanks.

The replacement tanks have a slightly increased height and volume; however, we maintained the same diameter as the as the existing tanks to save our client costs associated with major pipework modification and foundation work. Our Tanks are designed in house and independently checked & certified for each site, the terrain, Seismic conditions, Importance level, wind, and other relevant design variables.

For this project, all existing pipework, surveys and datums were taken and measured to ensure pre-fabrication of nozzle penetrations into the tank panels with no site fabrication and to maintain the design and service life.
